"Some might call fiction what is fact. I just use proof to combat that." - Brea Miles
Always bold, always honest, always real, always Brea. Brea Miles is a significant player to the genre known as Christian Hip Hop. With three projects topping iTunes top 20 and several tours under her belt. It is undeniable that she is a forced that can’t be reckoned with. With her prolific style and electrifying stage performance Brea is one of a kind.
Born in Richmond, Virginia. Yet raised between North and South Carolina. Brea’s got a lane of her own. It’s something we don’t see on a regular basis. This is truly a gift from God.
When asked about her start Brea shared “I’ve always been interested in music. From the time I was kid rapping on people’s porches for two dollars. I was a business woman(she jokes with a smile on her face.) I love music. It really is something that God gave me. It’s in my blood my Great Grandfather was an accomplished musician. Who played piano for everybody from Ella Fitzgerald to B.B. King. I’m proud of that I proud to come from that. And that, that gift was given to me.”
Her gift of music can be felt the most on her latest project “True Since 91.” An album which features many of Christian Hip Hop's top artist. The project was produced my Jah’rockn production, Ray Rock, G Roc, and Brea herself. When asked about producing on the project Brea said “I loved it! I didn’t realize that’s what I was doing. I always thought you had to physical touch an instrument in order to be a producer. I never occurred to me that Quincy Jones never picked up one instrument on Michael Jackson’s “ Off The Wall” album. But He produced the whole thing. Every sound, every beat, and concept were all things I brought to the table. I’m super involved on all of my projects. Even with “He Reigns” and “Exposed” (which was produced by Derek Minor and Tony Stone) it was the exact same process. It’s a blessing the way God set things us. Giving me the understanding of musical arrangements, chords, and harmonies. With “True Since 91” I just really expressed and laid out of the sounds and feelings that were in my head and heart. And it came together well. It was super fun!”
Since the release of her debut album “He Reigns” Brea shows no signs of slowing down. She has performed and interviewed LeCrae and the 116 Clique, Da’Truth, Canton Jones and many others. She was also the host of The Unashamed Conference: Unspoken 2013 and performed and hosted The Kingdom Experience at SXSW 2014 and 2015.
Her latest project “True Since 91” is available on all digital outlets.
True to her military roots, Brea has ministered to the troops on many occasions. She has ministered at Ft. Lee (both at the gospel service and during the Spiritual Fitness Concert Series), Ft. Monroe, and Ft. Eustis. She also ministers at Grace Chapel and the annual Freedom Fest both on Ft. Lewis, with plans to continue her military ministry throughout her career.
